Racial Equity Statement

To encourage a creative and meaningful performing arts experience for our participants and patrons, we at Poison Apple Productions commit to championing policies and practices of cultural equity that contribute to the growth and improvement of a just, inclusive, equitable world.

 DEFINITION OF CULTURAL EQUITY

Cultural equity embodies the values, policies, and practices that ensure that all people—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, ability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socio-economic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—have meaningful, equitable access of our performing arts programs and presentations.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE

  •  There are social systems that grant privilege and access unequally, resulting in inequity and injustice; this must be continuously addressed and changed.

  • Cultural equity is critical to the long-term impact and success of performing arts education and the industry.

  • We must all be responsible for acknowledging and challenging inequities and working in partnership to create positive change in our communities and future.

  • Everyone deserves equal access to performing arts experiences, which are essential to a healthy democratic society.

  • We understand that we have a great deal to learn, and are willing to listen and grow as individuals and a community organization.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO CREATING POSITIVE CHANGE

  • To provide an authentic safe space for cultural equity, we strive to…

  •  Pursue cultural equity and inclusion throughout our organization

  • Acknowledge and dismantle inequities within our programs, policies, and services and track our progress.

  • Commit time and resources to promote diverse leadership within our board, staff, and volunteers to increase pro-equity policies and practices by and for all of our participants and patrons.
